Lost love

Finding you wasn't the easiest of things,
letting go wasn't the hardest of things.

Dawn comes with ripples of nostalgia, waves of memories hit as golden rays of sunlight pierce the gray clouds.

You stand there by the window, watching the skies light up and grass go from green  to lemon.
Your caramel skin turns bronze at the command of the sun's warm kiss, I smile at you but you don't smile back because you're not there, you left.

In the shower, your braids tied into a bun under your shower cap isn't disturbed by the water running down your beautiful curves. I step in to join you, but the bath is empty because you're not there, you left.

At breakfast, I hear you complain about how much sugar I put in my cereal, I look up from my bowl of oat to find that there's no one there.

It continues thus, these brief visits from you, wrecking my day.

It's only the sunset that brings warmth...
It comes with hot drinks and colleagues making the most noise at the bar....
When the sun is replaced by the moon and the sky is the darkest shade of blue
We stand by the window and watch the clouds hide the stars as they move.
My hand seek yours but don't find it, you're gone.

Finding you wasn't the easiest of things, leaving you wasn't the hardest of things, but letting go might just be the end of me.
