Day and night

The old say that
We make hay while the sun shines
The lands we till and work we do
And night falls to give rest

But in the darkness
In the midnight blue darkness
Under the gleaming stars
And the crescent moon
Bats peep from  their hide
Rats and mice in their numbers
The watchman dozing at a corner

Day in,day out
Man works till he aches
Suffering many pains
But his reward is really worth it

The bats fly over treetops and rooftops
Rats and mice go through houses
Eating and playing and running free
With nocturnal insects

Laughing and talking
Eating and drinking
Man enjoys his leisure
After work

And I smile in the darkness
And enjoy the night's breeze
The freedom of animals
I listen to faraway sounds
The water beating the darkness,
The scury of many animals
And the wind that blows through my hair

So at daytime man roams about his business
And at night the animals scurry about
Each to his own taste to
Fulfill his wishes
