Life

The life of a man is like a button sewed to a shiny new coat
Firm and secure to complete its look
Then he is born new and but a babe to the world

The coat is worn
The best of in its prime
The man is but a boy
Young and strong

Soon days,weeks,months,years
Losing colour and losing thread
The button sags loose
The babe is a man
Aged with time
Gray hairs, weak joints and sagged skin

The button hangs from a single thread
Old,ugly and dismantled appears the coat
The shiny coat is now but a piece of rag
Frail-looking,old and heaving his last
The button falls off finally
Buried in the earth
Till the end of time.

  1. The beauty of mortality.
Imagine being sewn to the coat forever.
I imagine a very boring and predictable life. Now, where's the fun in that?
Besides, blessed is the button that falls off with age. Many would lost on a football pitch.

  2. Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
    Why don't they stay young?
It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth's like diamonds in the sun
And diamonds are forever - Alphaville
