On her, daddy poured sugar coated words.
With her free heart she swallowed his words.
To daddy, she opened her heaven.
In the last month of the nine months journey,
A child she brought onto this earth.
Excruciating and agonizing pains she went through.
At the break of dawn,
Her sacrifice and struggle continues,
Her sleepless nights begin nursing a colic child,
As her husband snoozes at the other end of the bed.
With the sore wounds of childbirth yet to heal,
She continues to sweep, cook, fetch water with the baby at her back.
Whenever heaven smiles at me,
And I begin to cry heavily,
There is one beautiful song and when she sings it melodiously,
The river flowing down my cheeks will stop and together we will smile beautifully.
My Mama, My Pride
The backbone of the family,
Rekindling the fire from every embers,
As the sun rises.
The next day is already in her mind,
As the twilight falls.
She thinks twice each time,
One for me and one for herself.
Mama , you are my hope and strength.
Till the six turns nine,
My love for you is everlasting.
You have infected me with your knowledge
And I promise to dance to its beat
Till Amazon River stops travelling.
